Who will be Holley’s Ford Fest Grand Champion? The driver or participant that can do the best all-around job in multiple events! Bring a car that can go fast, stop fast, and hang on in the corners! See the official rules below, register, then show up and drive!

Grand Champion Class Breakdown 

Late Model Class: All 1990 and newer model year cars.

Payout: $1,000 Cash, Plaque, Jacket

Vintage Class: 1989 or older model year cars (including Ranchero).

Payout: $1,000 Cash, Plaque, Jacket

Truck Class: All trucks regardless of the year of manufacture.

Payout: $1,000 Cash, Plaque, Jacket

Grand Champion points to be earned will come from competition in the autocross (Beech Bend Raceway), the 3S Challenge, and the Grand Champion drag class.

Grand Champion Competition Rules:

Only one driver per entered vehicle will be allowed to compete in any segment of the event.  Multiple driver entries or sharing a vehicle is not allowed.

Update  5/17/2021: Starting at Ford Fest 2021 the Kumho V720 ACR tire will no longer be allowed at any Ford Fest event. Please plan accordingly.

NOTE: Rancheros will be classified as a car for this competition. They are not eligible for competition in the truck/SUV class.

  1. All prize-eligible vehicles must 4-wheeled cars, licensed and registered for street use. Open wheeled vehicles will not be allowed in any side-by-side competition.
  2. Grand Champion (GC) participants are eligible to compete in all of the following segments of the event to earn The Grand Champion Award:
    1. Drag Race
    2. Autocross
    3. 3S Challenge
  3. All GC competitors must have a current driver’s license, and a current NHRA license if vehicle time/speed requires it. Vehicles that drag race 11.0 or faster must use full fire gear, and vehicles that run faster than 9.99 will require specific drag race tech and certification.
  4. All drivers will be required to sign a liability waiver.
  5. Only officially registered participants may drive the vehicle.
  6. Drivers may drive only the vehicle registered to them during the event. Driving other people’s vehicles is not allowed.
  7. Each entrant will be issued a number, which must be clearly visible on both sides of the car, above the body line, preferably on the door or C-pillar. All other numbers must be removed or completely taped over.
  8. All GC competitors must have the “Grand Champion Competitor” decal clearly displayed on the windshield of the vehicle.
  9. A mandatory driver meeting will be held prior to the first competition.
  10. Participants must use DOT approved street tires. Tires will be required to pass a technical inspection at the track. Street tires are defined as any treaded, non-competition tire with a 200 treadwear rating or higher. No modifications to tires will be acceptable, including shaving. Any vehicle with tires showing any evidence of excessive wear or modification may be disqualified from the event.
  11. Competitors must use a single set of tires for the entire event, no tire changing between events will be allowed. Tires will be marked during tech. Tire changes will be allowed in the event of a catastrophic failure, but replacements must be of the same manufacturer and model as those approved during tech inspection. Grand Champion competitors will not be allowed to change tires for drag racing. Tire changes will result in a competitor being moved to the exhibition class and they will not be eligible for any championships or prizes.
  12. Helmet use is required during all non-highway segments of the competition. The helmet must be approved automotive style with a Snell foundation sticker of SA2015 or later. Motorcycle helmets will not be approved.
  13. All convertibles or roadsters must have rollover protection for the drag race of the challenge.
  14. Participating cars must pass a basic safety inspection that will include but may not be limited to the following:
    Functional seatbelts, properly mounted battery
    b. Proper brake pedal pressure and travel.
    c. Sufficient throttle return spring and secured battery.
    d. All lug nuts in place and tight.
    e. Hubcaps/clip-on center caps are to be removed.
    f. All loose items must be removed from vehicle.
    (Floor mats, things hanging from rearview mirror, and glove box, console, trunk items.)
  15. Each segment of the event will be timed to 0.00.00 (except bonus point segments). GC competitors will be awarded points based on their overall finishing position in each segment, based on a 100-point scale – 100 for winner, 99 for second, etc. The GC competitor with the most combined points from each segment is the winner. The fastest autocross time will break all ties.
  16. Competition director and event management staff will have COMPLETE discretion to deny or remove from competition anyone in the event for any reason. All decisions are final.
